My social media sessions are designed to help you create a strategy that works for you. 

What we'll cover

Marketing is about getting the right message in front of the right people at the right time. The goal of this one-to-one workshop is to give you the skills and confidence to do just that. 

Your ideal client: The first step is understanding your target audience – the right people. If you don’t know who you are trying to attract, how can you create messages that resonate with them? How can you write sales copy that inspires them? How can you create content that engages them?

Understanding simple sales funnels: It is possible to use social media as your only marketing channel, but I don’t recommend it. We’ll look at how social media can fit into your wider marketing and sales process and figure out some simple sales funnels. 

Posting with purpose: I’ll talk you the three types of content you should be creating – content to increase reach and attract your ideal audience, content to build trust and generate interest in what you offer, content to convert followers into buyers. We’ll look at how to create each of these and how to utilise them effectively. 

Simple copywriting formulas: Promotional posts don’t have to be cringey – I’ll show you some easy-to-follow formulas to help you with structure and style. And we’ll come up with some posts together. 

Common mistakes and how to avoid them: Exactly as it sounds – I’ll talk you through some of the common mistakes people make on social media and show you how to avoid them. 

Putting your strategy together: This is where we tie it all together so you leave the session with a clear action plan and the confidence to implement it. 

This course doesn’t cover paid ads (although some of the things we cover can be applied to paid social). It also doesn’t cover technical aspects such as video editing or graphic design. 

The objective of this course is to give you some ideas for content, a strategy for using social media, and some copywriting techniques to increase your chances of success.

I guess you probably want to know a little bit about me since I’m asking you to trust me with your business. I get it.

So, where do I begin?

Well, I guess I could start by giving you an overview of my background…

  • Worked in various sales roles for over 15 years
  • Completed diplomas in feature writing and copywriting
  • Started freelance copywriting as Lisa Slater Copywriting in 2014
  • Rebranded as Make Your Copy Count Ltd in 2017
  • Created copy for over 200 clients
  • Delivered training to a wide variety of businesses and organisations
  • Published my first book in 2018 and my second in 2022
  • Launched a second business in 2024

But I guess the most relevant experience is that I built my business from scratch. And like many business owners, I learnt as I went.

I was pretty fortunate that the skill I was selling was something that benefited my own business too – not all business owners have that luxury. And I’ve seen too many people get ripped off when it comes to marketing because they don’t understand what they are signing up for.

Too many social media courses focus on technical aspects such as making your profile look pretty, using scheduling tools, connecting with others, and adding content. Others teach you how to use tacky content templates, engagement pods,  and social media “hacks” to grow your following quickly. 

But what’s the point of understanding how to use a platform if you don’t know how to create content that actually appeals to your ideal clients? And what’s the point of building a huge following of people who will never buy from you?

My course teaches you how to attract your ideal customers, how to create content that serves a purpose, how to nurture new followers so you can turn them into happy clients.
